Being a parent is truly a full-time job. You’ll have to juggle between pampering your kids and doing household chores. It could be the most exhausting job you’ll ever have especially when thousands of thoughts flood your mind every time. Every parent would definitely want some rest and peace of mind.
But sometimes it could feel like there’s no way to have time for yourself. Still, you don’t have to feel so down because we can always learn from nature, they have a lot to teach by seeing things differently. Let’s take the mountains for example.
“Whatever the weather, or whatever happens on the surface of the mountain – the mountain stands firm, strong, grounded, and permanent. We can be like that mountain, observing thoughts, feelings, sensations, knowing inner stillness.”
It reminds us that after all the stress that parenting has brought to us, we can still find inner stillness. We can always find a time for us to relax and be happy with what we do.
Although there is no one-size-fits-all guide on being a parent, there are still a lot of ways where you can find peace and get through your day in a chaotic household. It is just a matter of learning how.
Here are some mommy hacks that will help you stay cool and develop great parenting:
Take a Step Back and See
Bills, laundry, scattered toys, with so much going on in your home, you might be bombarded with so many concerns. Why don’t you take a step back and let it all go? It’s not like you can handle everything all at once. Don’t be too hard on yourself, do things one at a time.
Be true to what you feel
When we’re under stress, we tend to distract ourselves to forget what we’re feeling. We might even recklessly engage in irrational activities just to get rid of the discomfort. And when we do, we might waste our time instead of accomplishing more important things. By learning to pay attention to your deeper senses and feelings, you can establish a strong connection to yourself and your kids that will help you feel confident in knowing what is deeply true for you.
Keep telling yourself that everything will be fine. It’s normal to be stressed out, that’s part of our life. To lighten up your mood, just keep telling yourself the things that you would tell someone who’s stressed out, be it a friend or a family. It could help you soothe your feeling because there is no way you’d tell someone unhelpful words of advice.
The last thing you would want is to take your frustrations out on your children. Practice deep breathing, it will help you calm down. Inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth. Do it over and over until you feel better. It can help you find peace by keeping you focused from concentrated breathing.
Enjoy the Moment
Center yourself by being sensible of your company and surrounding. Pay attention to the present and make the most out of it. If your child is playing, then join them. You would not only strengthen your connections with them, but it also helps you in reducing the stress that has been building up inside you.
You can always find time and ways to achieve inner stillness. You just have to seize every opportunity that appears right before you, so you can enjoy every moment of your life despite all of your parental duties.
